Forty first-year University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo students recited the Oath of a Pharmacist at the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy’s White Coat Ceremony Sunday, October 18. DKICP Dean Carolyn Ma and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Lara Gomez presented each student with their new white coat, while all observed safe distancing protocol. The event was livestreamed for family and friends to watch.
The ceremony also recognized PGY1 pharmacy resident Thi Hong Vo, who is continuing her training with DKICP faculty on Oʻahu, and Emilio Quarta, a graduate student beginning his research journey in the Ph.D. program at DKICP.
Lucinda Maine, executive vice president and CEO of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, addressed the students online. Comments and congratulations were also shared virtually by UH Hilo Chancellor Bonnie Irwin and Hawaiʻi County Mayor Harry Kim.
