The results of the 2025 American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) match for pharmacy residencies highlighted a 94% match rate for the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy (DKICP) for combined postgraduate year 1 (PGY1) and postgraduate year 2 (PGY2) positions. This represents the highest overall match rate in the history of the school, and is significantly higher than the national average of 83% for this year. At 35%, the Class of 2025 also had the highest percentage of graduates matching for residencies in the school’s history.

Postgraduate residencies provide advanced training for Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) graduates, usually with a clinical emphasis, and sometimes a specialized focus. Unlike physicians, pharmacists are not required to pursue postgraduate training, although most who are interested in clinically-focused careers do so.

Fourteen DKICP students and alumni matched for PGY1 residencies, and one alumni matched for a PGY2 infectious disease residency. All six PGY1 residencies in Hawaii were matched this year with DKICP students or alumni. The students and alumni who matched and their respective practice sites are:
