Charlotte Powell, Class of 2027

Charlotte Powell, a third year Doctor of Pharmacy student at the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy (DKICP) was accepted into the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Aspiring Academics Program for the 2025-2026 year. The program accepted 28 pharmacy students from across the country who are interested in pursuing an academic pharmacy career. The Aspiring Academics Program will allow Powell to prepare for a future role as a pharmacy school faculty member through online learning modules, experiential activities, and a group project on an emerging topic within pharmacy academia. Powell will also have meetings and discussions with mentors for the program throughout the year.

Powell is from Montana and selected DKICP due to its emphasis on rural health. She is the student supervisor for DKICP’s Medication Therapy Management (MTM) Program, a student ambassador for the college, and provides leadership for the award-winning ALOHA Project community outreach program at the DKICP. “I applied for the Aspiring Academics program because I am passionate about education and eager to gain insights into pursuing a career in academia,” says Powell. “I look forward to learning from faculty across the country, connecting with other students passionate about academia, and building skills that will help me become an effective educator.”

Dr. Jarred Prudencio, director of experiential education and DKICP alumnus from the Class of 2015, will serve as Powell’s DKICP mentor for the program. “Charlotte has a visible passion for education and I am excited for her to explore this further through the Aspiring Academics Program.”
