Detailed Research Description

A major focus of our research is toward targeted drug therapy and diagnostic tools for central nervous system (CNS) diseases (e.g. Alzheimer’s disease, major depression, addiction). We design and synthesize novel ligands based on natural products and/or using the designed multiple ligand approach. For example, in the past we developed unique compound libraries targeting different nicotinic acetylcholine receptors as pharmacological tools, potential therapeutics, and for positron emission tomography (PET) and single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT).
