Supakit Wongwiwatthananukit, Pharm.D., M.S., Ph.D.

Professor

Dr. Wongwiwatthananukit received his B.Sc. in Pharmacy (First Class Honors) from Prince of Songkla University in Thailand and Pharm.D. (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy.  He earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Pharmacy Practice/Administration from Purdue University.  He is certified in Tobacco Intervention Skills (Hawai’i State Department of Health), American Pharmacists Association faculty trainer in Pharmacy Based Immunization Delivery, and a registered Pharmacist in Hawaii, Illinois, and Thailand.  Prior to joining the College, he served as an associate professor of clinical pharmacy at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.  Currently, he is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy, University of Hawai`i at Hilo.  He is a prolific author of more than 60 peer-reviewed journal articles, four book chapters, and two books.  He is the recipient of over 30 research grants for his work.
Dr. Wongwiwatthananukit has been the winner of numerous awards, including the Nagai Award for Pharmacy Practice Research; Jenkins-Knevel Award for Excellence Research in Pharmacy Practice; Outstanding Poster Presentation Award for Pharmacy Practice in the Research Conference in Pharmaceutical Sciences;  Award for Excellence in Scholarly/Creative Activities, University of Hawai`i at Hilo; Best Paper/Presentation Award for Applied Learning Experiences (ALEX) Research Conference/Symposium, University of Hawai`i Research Conference; Excellence in Teaching Awards for Pharmacy Practice Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy; and Outstanding Pharmacy Engagement Recognition Award, Rangsit University, Thailand.   
In addition to his investigative endeavors, Dr. Wongwiwatthananukit is also a dedicated pharmacist, teacher, mentor and academician, having been an active member of numerous college and university committees at the various colleges and universities he has served, and a major advisor to more than 30 graduate students.  His research interests focus on two research themes: (1) outcomes and drug discovery research which includes development and validation of an instrument to assess humanistic outcomes, clinical trials, evaluation of natural products and characterization of their metabolomic profiles, and (2) pharmaceutical education that involves curriculum and course development and assessment.
