Ghee T. Tan, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor

Dr. Tan received her B.Sc. (Hons.) in Pharmacy from the National University of Singapore, and her Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Chicago. After a 2 year appointment as Research Scientist at the Public Health Research Institute of New York, she returned to the University of Illinois at the rank of Research Assistant Professor. Dr. Tan has extensive experience in biochemistry and molecular biology with special emphasis on natural products. Her areas of expertise focus primarily on virology and parasitology, with substantial collaborative involvement in cancer research. She has published over 40 research articles, largely supported by the NIH. In addition, she has authored 5 review articles including book chapters. Over the years, she has also mentored students both at the graduate and undergraduate levels. As an inaugural member of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, she is on a tenure track.
