Anthony D. Wright, Ph.D.
Associate Professor and Chair
Anthony Wright received his Ph.D. at the James Cook University, Queensland, Australia. Over the past 20 years, he has acquired extensive experience at the ETH-Zurich (Department of Pharmacy), Department of Pharmaceutical Biology at the Technical University of Braunschweig, Department of Pharmaceutical Biology at the University of Bonn, and, most recently, as Head of Natural Products at the Australian Institute of Marine Science. He has approximately 150 publications in high quality journals and has lectured extensively throughout the world. In sum, he is a world-renowned scientist with an impeccable track record and superb experience. As Associate Professor, he will interact with students in the classroom and laboratory. In addition, consistent with his track record, it is expected that he will develop a research program that is well-funded through extramural sources. As Chair of the new Department of Pharmaceutical Science, Dr. Wright will have significant administrative responsibility, such as be responsible for building the Department to a point wherein it is comparable to other renowned units in the UH system such as the Cancer Center. He will be responsible for recruiting first-class faculty, mentoring faculty, lecture assignments and monitoring, building the research agenda and infrastructure.
