Mimi Pezzuto, R.Ph., B.S.

Mimi Pezzuto received her B.S. Pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy in 1986. She is a registered and licensed pharmacist (R.Ph.) in Illinois and Hawaii. Her background includes Manager of the Pharmacy Program for HCSC Corporation (Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and Texas), where she was part of a team responsible for managing drug benefits for 2.3 million members and interfacing with all divisions of HCSC. Prior to joining HCSC, she was a Senior Consultant for Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, where she was solely responsible for designing, organizing and funding the national meeting “Managing the Prescription Drug Benefit”, attended by scores of members of the insurance industry, Blue Cross Plans, the pharmaceutical industry, pharmacy benefit management companies, and pharmacy consultants from various disciplines originating throughout the United States. She was also a consultant for the Federal Employee Plan, in Washington, D.C., as well as several Blue Cross Plans, the pharmaceutical industry, and independent companies. Prior to joining Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, she was a manager for a large U.S. retail chain, and has extensive retail experience. While taking time off to raise a family, at Purdue University, she wrote lectures on managed care and actively promoted the minority student program as well as participating in many fund raising activities. She is currently the instructor for the pharmaceutics laboratory and teaches the elective course “History of Pharmacy” at the University of Hawaii College of Pharmacy.
