Ron Taniguchi, Pharm.D., M.B.A.
Director, Community Partnerships
Dr. Taniguchi received his B.S. in pharmacy from Oregon State University, his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Southern California and his Masters in Business Administration from Chaminade University. He is licensed as a pharmacist in Hawaii and California. Dr. Taniguchi's professional practice experience includes acute care, ambulatory care, long term care, managed care and military service. He comes to the College of Pharmacy after three years as the Director of Pharmacy Management at HMSA, a Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliate that covers 700,000 members in Hawaii. He has held numerous officer positions and appointments in local and national pharmacy associations including three years as the Executive Director of the Hawaii Pharmacists Association. Dr. Taniguchi’s diverse background positions him well to develop local, national and global interdisciplinary professional and community partnerships that will be vital to supporting the growth and development of the University of Hawaii at Hilo College of Pharmacy.
